THE GOOD NEWS: After much lobbying by fangirls Stephanie Brown, aka the dead Girl Robin, finally gets a memorial in the Batcave.

THE BAD NEWS: DC chief Dan Didio first makes some ...compromises.

Oy vey...
Well, you know, If I were fighting crime all the time, and people were likely to shoot at me, and I had massive breasts that doubtless get in my way and I hadn't gotten around to reduction surgery yet...
that's pretty much what I would wear.
Of course, I'd draw the line at letting my boss touch me like that.

Re: Oy vey...
PS: I'd call that an intentional slap in the face, if I were to call it.

SWEET BLEEDIN' CHRIST!? What is that a cover for?

If anything It should have been Robin Standing where Bats is, Nice Job Keeping with continuuity morons...Yet another reason to not buy comics

I want to see ALL the robins have to wear genital skirts.
How the hell is that even remotely practical?
And guns? I thought Batman was vehemently opposed to guns?

Those are the hardest puffies I've ever seen.

That can't be Spoiler. Or a Robin costume. Or... anything else.

No seriously, what is that?

What is his name - really? Dildo?

Bears and Butterfliesgoldjadeocean on June 20th, 2007 04:26 pm (UTC)
It looks like he's trying to put his hand there to shield for modesty reasons, but alas poor Batman, he knows not how far down the boob window goes.

Good one. I did a double take, then figured it was too outrageous (plus, I kind of doubted they'd bring her back to life). I enjoy my naivete!

You had me going! That's Orion's wife Beka, that Batman has a hidden passion for! Scare me to DEATH, why doncha!

I mean, the outfit's disgusting, but to put it on Stephanie--I'da marched to DC with a flamethrower, I would have!

Where's my goddam smelling salts?!
tammy212tammy212 on June 20th, 2007 04:47 pm (UTC)
The problem is, the original idea is just too awfully believable in the current climate. Aren't you terrified you're going to give DC ideas?!

Re: Here's what it is...
OK, much becomes clear.

That's still a fuckin' weird cover, though.

This Manstream member totally bought that. As Tammy says, it is entirely too believable.
Aside from the ridiculous breasts, though, we find the illustration rather sexy. Realistic body (aside from goofyboobs), nice costuming, excellent poses, consensual, and Bekka is looking right at us.

Far better than the Storm/Panther cover where Panther is completely dressed and Storm is in some weird gauze diaper so she can have a cameltoe.

In a rare fit of charity, MANSTREAM APPROVES!

So, wait, Stephanie Brown didn't die, but was sent to Apokolips? Because that's definitely where she got THAT outfit (not to mention the guns.)

The breasts are ridiculous but for me the real weirdness is...well...the entire cover. Why is Bats holding his hand in front of Stephanie's breastbone? Why the weird religious pose? Why the New Gods outfit? It makes almost as much sense as "Civil War!"

I find this naggingly reminiscent of a piece of art, but can't remember more than that.

Also, is it just me, or are her arms way too long? I like that they have actual muscles to them, however.

I wish she were wearing less ricockulous clothing, but other than that, I like this art.

PS it would be super awesome if Batman were naked under that cloak 'n cowl. Or just in a speedo or something.

I had this image of a huge panel with Batman looming above some mugging on a gritty Neal Adams street scene, and then leaping down and we see, in a cross-angle, the cape swirling back to reveal...

You can fill in the rest, I'm sure. :-)
